Oh hey there, again! If you are religiously following my Kodaikanal experience, thank you so much for the love. And if you are reading this blog for the first time, you need to read the first two parts to know how I landed in Kodaikanal.
Here's the link to the first one - Click here
The second one is here for your read.
The blogs are short and exciting.
For those who don't know, Kodaikanal is a town in Tamil Nadu, India. It is known for its beautiful nature, mountains, tall trees, and pleasant weather.
Let's start with our story now.
As you know, we sat in the car, and it was supposed to take us 6-7 hours to reach our hotel. Tamil Nadu looked quite similar to Maharashtra to me. I expected it to be like a posh state for some unknown reason. But the weather in Tamil Nadu was good. I would be OK with revisiting Tamil Nadu, to explore the state. Nevermind.
6-7 hours are long, and I was already tired due to a sleepless night. So, my best friend and I decided to take a power nap. She woke up after 2-3 hours and started watching the beautiful scenery outside the car window. She recorded many videos of our journey to Kodaikanal.
She woke me up, and thank God she did because such beauty is rare to witness in life, and we experienced it twice (going and coming back). There were beautiful mountains, tall trees, clouds, and a cold breeze. Fabulous weather for couples.
Meanwhile, we realized that our driver was boring and a bit arrogant. He wouldn't tell us anything and he was supposed to be our driver and guide. His duty for us was from 9 am to 6 pm IST. I mean dude be a little happy right?
Here are some pictures from outside the car window:
Amazing, right? I know ;)
We reached the hotel. The hotel we stayed at was Poppys Kodai. It's a beautiful hotel with a gaming space and lawn where you can sit with your loved ones and gaze at the stars. The only downside is that you don't get network coverage there. I missed a few important work messages, but the situation was under control due to my prior out-of-office notice. There is no network, and you need to go outside the hotel to connect with your people if you need to.
The weather is cold, so they have provisions accordingly.
An interesting fact we noticed on this trip is that people in Kodaikanal do not have fans or ACs as the weather is always cold. It is so cold that you feel like you are in AC 24/7. You don't feel hot at all.
We arrived, freshened up, and started with our Day 1 itinerary.
So there were two places on our list for the first day:
Bryant Park: The most beautiful garden you must have ever seen. Of course, there are others in Bangalore and Hyderabad, but this garden enhances the beauty of Kodaikanal. We visited the garden. It is huge and takes some time to cover the whole area. Here is a picture:
Kodaikanal Lake: The most beautiful lake. The mesmerizing scene and boating experience are something you will find at this lake. There is an entry ticket, and you can purchase the ticket according to your choice. Basically, you get to experience boating for either 30 minutes, 45 minutes, or 1 hour. It's up to you which type of boat you want. There are 8-seater boats and 4-seaters. Prices vary accordingly. We booked 4-seater boat for 20 mins. Here is a lake's picture for your reference:
After this amazing experience, we went to try some street food in Kodaikanal. We had peanut chaat, and trust me, it was amazing. Later, we went shopping and discovered that this small town in Tamil Nadu is famous not only for its beauty but also for its homemade chocolates. The white chocolate was my favorite.
That's it for today. Stay tuned for day 2. The most horrible experience we had, so much that we contacted MMT (Make My Trip).
