Emily had always been drawn to old houses. There was something about their crumbling facades and tangled gardens that beckoned to her. So when she stumbled upon a decrepit mansion at the end of a forgotten lane, she was immediately intrigued. The house had been abandoned for decades, but its once-grand architecture still hinted at past opulence. She decided to explore, driven by a mix of curiosity and a strange, inexplicable pull.
The sun was setting as she approached the front door, which creaked ominously when she pushed it open. The interior was shrouded in darkness, with only the fading light from outside illuminating the dust-covered furniture and rotting wallpaper. Emily's flashlight flickered as she made her way through the grand foyer, each step echoing through the empty halls.
She reached a room that seemed to be a library, its walls lined with books that had long since been forgotten. As she examined the shelves, she found a peculiar journal, its leather cover worn but intact. Emily’s heart raced as she leafed through its pages, filled with frantic scrawls and eerie sketches of the house. The last entry, dated over fifty years ago, read: “They watch from the shadows, and they hunger.”
A cold shiver ran down Emily’s spine as she noticed a strange chill in the air. She turned around, sensing that she was no longer alone. Her flashlight’s beam revealed nothing but empty space, but the feeling of being watched grew stronger. She decided it was time to leave, but as she turned back towards the foyer, she heard a low, guttural whisper.
Stay tuned for the second part.
