True friendship is a rare and precious bond transcending time, distance, and circumstance. It is a relationship built on trust, mutual respect, and unconditional support. True friends are those who stand by your side through the highs and lows of life, offering comfort in times of need and celebrating your successes as if they were their own.
One of the defining characteristics of true friendship is authenticity. True friends accept you for who you are, flaws and all, without judgment or expectation. They provide a safe space where you can be yourself completely, knowing that you will be loved and accepted just as you are. In a world where pretense often masks genuine connection, true friendship offers a refreshing oasis of sincerity and understanding.
Another essential aspect of true friendship is reciprocity. It is not enough to receive support and kindness; true friends give as much as they receive, fostering a sense of balance and equality in the relationship. Whether it's a shoulder to cry on, a listening ear, or a helping hand, true friends are there for each other unconditionally, knowing that their bond is strengthened through acts of generosity and selflessness.
Moreover, true friendship is characterized by loyalty and commitment. True friends stand by each other through thick and thin, remaining steadfast in their loyalty even when faced with adversity. They prioritize the well-being of their friend above all else, demonstrating unwavering loyalty and devotion in times of crisis.
talking about the loyalty of a friendship a book named "THE KITE RUNNER" by KHALED HOSSEINI presents it beautifully. The Kite Runner by the author Khaled Hosseini. Is a beautiful book that covers the beauty of two best friends along with the beauty of Afghanistan before the Russian invasion and also the effects it had post-Taliban rule.
About ‘the kite runner’ the summary goes like this:
Afghanistan 1975: twelve-year-old Amir is desperate to win
the local kite fighting tournament and his loyal friend Hassan promises to help
him. But neither of the boys will foresee what will happen to what will happen
to Hassan that afternoon, an event that is to shatter their lives. After the
Russians invade and the family is forced to flee to America, Amir realizes that
one day he must return to Afghanistan under Taliban rule to find one thing that
his new world cannot grant him: redemption.
There is so much to talk about in this book but the most
beautiful thing to talk about is the character called Hassan. Hassan is a twelve-year-old
boy who is the son of Amir's father's servant.so Hassan and Amir grew up together Hassan
was devoted to Amir from birth. As the book mentions that ‘when Amir was
born his first word was ‘baba’ and Hassan's first word was ‘Amir’. For every kite
tournament, Amir used to run the kite as in catch the kite of the loser. Hassan's love for Amir was shown by his one promise for Amir ‘for
you, a thousand times over’. Hassan was a courageous and loyal innocent boy
whose loyalty and love for Amir never faded till the end.
| Hassan |
As for Amir, he acted kind of selfish in his childhood. He
was a cowardly child. Although his father loved Hassan and him equally, he was
jealous of Hassan in that case. He did all the things to please his baba(father).
but his father was never satisfied and started showing affection toward Amir only
when he won a kite flying tournament.
But who knew it was the last day of Hassan and Amir's friendship.
| Amir and hid Baba |
We can’t blame anyone for their behavior. As Amir behaved
selfishly for his baba's affection, his father had his own reason to act in such
a way. But beyond that. The author has done a fabulous job of describing
Afghanistan and its culture through his writing. Some history about the people
and the beautiful poetries.
This book has also impacted the hearts of the people. The
author has described how people are suffering in Afghanistan rule after the
Taliban rule. People from various countries are coming forward to adopt orphans
from Afghanistan. There are many plays
based on this book. But there is also a movie based on the book.it is a nice
one but some details are excluded from the movie which can be only found in the
book. Therefore, I will recommend reading the book before watching the movie.
Overall, the book was emotional and I bet it made everyone
who read it cry. Some of you will relate to Amir, and some of you will relate to Hassan.
Hassan was totally innocent. but a quote from the book that hit me hard was “That’s the thing about people who mean everything they say. They think everything else
does too”. Well, every good-hearted person has been betrayed once. Or people
that mean what they say suffer the most. This book will remain with me forever
it has taken my heart.it taught me the true value of friends like Hassan, not
betraying innocent people, friendship, peace, and mainly redemption. This is
not a boring book, they often say ‘sad stories make good books and this book is
one of them. it has its own twists, own secrets its own plot, and its own
teachings.
