SHANTI DEVI: Rebirth, Reincarnation and the Truth

However, tragedy struck when Lugdi Devi faced complications during pregnancy, leading to her untimely demise at the tender age of 22, leaving behind her newborn son, Navneet Laal Chaube.

Fast forward to December 11, 1926, in Delhi, where Shanti Devi was born to Rang Bahadur Mathur and Perem Priya Mathur, merely 180 kilometers away from Lugdi Devi's hometown of Mathura. Shanti Devi's early years were unremarkable, but on her fourth birthday, she uttered astonishing words: "I am a Brahmin wife from Mathura."

 Initially dismissed as childhood fantasies, Shanti Devi's assertions grew more detailed and precise. She claimed to be Lugdi Devi reincarnated, speaking of Lugdi's life with remarkable clarity. She described Lugdi's home near a temple, her husband's textile factory, and even personal details like his weak eyesight and mole on his left cheek.

                     

Shanti Devi's father, initially skeptical, became intrigued when she spoke with a distinct Mathura accent, despite never having visited the place. Encouraged by Shanti Devi's insistence, her father embarked on a journey to verify her claims.

Through meticulous investigation, Shanti Devi's father identified Kedarnath Chaube as Lugdi Devi's husband. A meeting was arranged, with Kedarnath and his family traveling to Delhi incognito to test Shanti Devi's authenticity. Remarkably, Shanti Devi recognized Kedarnath despite his disguise, confirming her extraordinary connection to Lugdi Devi.

Further private conversations between Kedarnath and Shanti Devi revealed intimate details known only to Lugdi and him, validating her claims. Shanti Devi even confronted Kedarnath about his broken promise to Lugdi, demonstrating an uncanny awareness of their shared past.

Determined to revisit her past life, Shanti Devi accompanied Kedarnath to Mathura, where her descriptions of Lugdi's home proved eerily accurate. Though unable to stay with Kedarnath due to societal constraints, Shanti Devi's journey left an indelible mark, offering a glimpse into the enigmatic realm of reincarnation.

Authored by Sture Lonnerstrand, a Swedish author and journalist, the book delves into the remarkable journey of Shanti Devi and her purported reincarnation as Lugdi Devi.
