Discussion on Empowerment of women and men.

Today’s blog is on the discussion. The topic I selected for today is “Empowerment”.  You can suggest topics to discuss on and I will come up with it every Tuesday. Can’t promise the day but, I will try to within one week. Let us get started.

So, there is one group I belong to, and one boy posted one article or news not sure since it was long back now. He shared the article where the girl asked the question to people at large that why only to promote women empowerment? We should even talk about men's empowerment right? So there were many comments and people were commenting there that, there should be only women empowerment and some were saying men empowerment and also there was a fight with regards to feminism. Do let me know your thoughts on this, please.

MY VIEW:-

Honestly, I believe both should be equally promoted. Women have indeed had a long history of suffering and gender has been underrated many times and at many places, they were not considered at all. And also, at many places (especially in rural areas) these things are still in existence but that’s because women are unaware of the rights they possess. This issue is not prevailing only in India but all over the world. To tackle this there has to be a high awareness campaign for such women so that they become aware of their rights and save themselves from any of the harassment they go through.

Just promoting women's empowerment and not giving much importance to men's empowerment will degrade men's gender. The Indian Constitution states under Article 14 that equality should be promoted no matter what gender you belong to. To overcome the difficulties women were going through Articles 14 and 15 were introduced in the Indian Constitution.

Many other laws like IPC, Domestic violence laws, etc have been introduced in India. Therefore, women can be prevented from the harassment they go through. Women at many places are unaware of their rights, therefore what they go through is because of being unaware of their legal powers, and to overcome the same, awareness should be taken place and women should be let know that she is powerful enough to protect her dignity. To promote women empowerment is not wrong but “just” promoting women empowerment is wrong. Both genders should be equally treated and promoted.

Many women have forgotten the real meaning of Feminism. Feminism was all about demanding equality and not harassing men in the name of feminism. Nowadays, Feminism has become a weapon against men. This is wrong. This is not what we wanted. We wanted equality and did not want to degrade the other gender to achieve our goal.

We all know that not only women but also in some places men get harassed by women. We need to understand that gender cannot be the reason but mentality is the reason for the harassment that takes place against any human. Blaming the entire male community is highly not correct.
