A debatable issue.

So you all wanted me to write a debate on the use of mobile phones, a debatable issue between parents and their children. I am really happy to see a response. It made me feel richer. You all mean a lot to me. So let’s get started now without wasting a single moment.

We all know how much our parents hate us while we are using the phone. What you all think? Are they right or wrong? You all won’t believe it, yesterday I was busy doing my writing job and I was bored so took up the phone and that very moment my mother entered and started yelling at me saying that I always am on phone, I am useless, I am hopeless and I do nothing, etc. I was speechless. I mean either that was a joke or my luck has gone for a long tour.

This issue is with everyone I know. But I am thankful for corona that now everything being online we are almost around the gadgets for more than 5 hours and our parents can’t say a word, on top now they feel we are studying but we know how much we study. Anyways getting on a debate, every parent has a problem with their children using phone day and night and this is nothing new. Whenever they want to shout at their children the “phone issue” has to be there in that particular argument. Whereas we students know how much the phone means to us. Phone nowadays is equivalent to oxygen. It’s like our best friend or maybe more than that.

I don’t know about foreign parents but this is an issue with every Indian parent. For me, I guess the phone nowadays is very important because more than half of the job can be done online. It has our personal as well as professional details. My brother does everything through his phone be it job, ordering something, or certain payments. To me being a student, I have many things to do apart from chatting, to be honest, I do many things through the phone be it online sessions, payments, or blogging. Everything can be done through the phone and we all know it.

Parents do not know the advantages of the phone. They do not know it because they are unaware of the benefits. After all, during their childhoods, there were no phones. They just know the calling system and the messaging system. Because that can be done through a normal keypad phone. Now, this is an era wherein smartphones have to be there at everybody’s home but our parents aren’t much aware of the online mode or browsing. They just know few things which they think aren’t important.

Now coming to the children they do not know the disadvantages of using a phone for too long. For example strain on the eyes, eyesight issues, fatigue, fatness, sleepless nights, etc. They do not know it because they feel it's okay to use the same and they are not aware of the time they waste. What happens is we keep on browsing and we do not know how the time passes and hence we spent too long holding a phone and trust me it is a bad addiction. Using the phone for too long is not good for our mental and physical health. Using it for a reasonable time is all good, but using it continuously for too many hours isn’t a good thing. And also I think many of us don’t realize that we are using the phone for too many hours and ignoring our family time. To those who know it very well, keep it up. But we need to realize that there have to be limits on everything we do. Instead of calling and spending too many hours we can just go and have face-to-face interaction. Though there is a video call feature, the happiness which is there offline isn’t there through online interaction evident from the current situation that is, “online lectures”.

We can hence conclude that mobile phones have advantages as well as disadvantages but there has to be a limit on usage of the same which is in our hands.
