Series: True Beauty (Korean Series)

Today again, I am up with another review. This time it is one of the Korean Series on Netflix. I am not a big fan of Korean drama. Honestly never tried watching before. 

So the series I watched had in all 16 episodes of almost an hour each. The name of the series is "True Beauty". 

So what kept me going was the actors, their acting, and the storyline. 

"True Beauty" narrates the romantic and comedic journey of Lim Jugyeong, a high school girl subjected to bullying due to her appearance. Following a family relocation, she switches schools and becomes proficient in the art of makeup through online tutorials. Embarking on a fresh chapter at her new high school, Jugyeong garners admiration for her transformed appearance, yet she guards her makeup-free face with utmost secrecy. Complications arise when Lee Su Ho, the only person who witnessed her bare face, also enrolls at the same school. As they share their vulnerabilities and secrets, a deep connection forms between them, leading to a blossoming romance. However, Jugyeong's path becomes further entangled when the school's bad boy, Han Seo-Jun, develops an affectionate interest in her as well. 

In essence, "True Beauty" is a delightful and humorous Korean drama featuring a stellar ensemble of emerging and promising actors destined for frequent appearances on our screens. Its well-executed comedic elements set it apart from many other romantic comedies. However, if you anticipate a faithful adaptation of the webtoon, this might not meet your expectations, as the series takes a fresh approach, infusing its own distinct twist into the narrative. While it's not flawless, the show presents characters and a plot with a bit more substance than the webtoon. If you're in search of a classic high school romantic comedy K-drama that's easy to follow, "True Beauty" is the perfect choice for you!

The lesson we should take from this series is that be yourself. Before others accept you, you need to accept yourself the way you are, You need to learn to fall in love with yourself. Present yourself the way you are and be confident. Fight your fears and grow. Don't change yourself to get accepted. Instead, be yourself and true people will stick around you. 

This web series will never disappoint you and shall keep you on your feet resulting in binge-watching the entire series, Surprisingly, this is the first time that I have watched a Korean series, and that too finished watching it in 3 days without being distracted by any other shows or movies on Netflix.
